Food for Thought?

Over the winter period you’re probably aware of the importance of not feeding/using fertilisers on your plants. Spring is the definition of growth and renewal, so it’s time to crack out their favourite tasty fertiliser and start feeding your plants again (not so tasty for us though, please don’t ingest any fertilisers, you grow in a different way babe).

The reason we kickstart feeding our plants in spring is to support their rapid growth, replenish depleted nutrients, enhance flower and fruit production, improve soil quality, prevent nutrient deficiencies, maximise seasonal potential, and boost their immunity against pests and diseases.

What's Hot and What's Not?

The hype of different houseplants or even the type of growing medium differs from year to year and person to person. TC (Tissue Culture) has dramatically changed the term ‘rare’ and most of those unattainable plants you’ve dreamt about are finally available and affordable.

So with all that, what is hot and what’s not in our eyes this year? 

It’s all about propping, swapping and recycling. We’re talking, go to that plant swap (honestly you could receive plants you’ve only ever fantasied about), propagate to giveaway, and try things like Semi-Hydro as you can use, sterilise, rinse and reuse again! It’s truly endless. 

Plant Care Apps: Take these apps with a pinch of salt. Ignore the wild ‘tips’ like pouring milk over your plant and try not to stick to their water/care schedule. Your environment is not the same and the seasons have a big part to play with this.
